OK now i see why your doin this. im on board now. yes this is very much worth it. sorry the ******* in me has to ask: "what about mobile home axles?" you should be able to get them cheap. just an idea. dont think you would be happy with the wheel selection tho.
if your gonna pay to have it media blasted, check and see what powder coating cost. you may want to just weld your shackle mounts and bunk bases and take it somewhere. thats more money but alot less work .

Keep in mind, as heavy as your boat is going to be you will want you axles cambered. That means they will have a bow in the middle that will prevent the tires from wearing on the inside. If you build your own axles, you won't be able to have the camber built in. Thats why I am swapping my axles, tired of tires wearing on the inside caused by my shop built straight axles.

The more I look Im thinking of just buying axles and springs new and be done with it. That way I know that part is good.

Thanks Rambo! I will look into that. Never know what I may come up with. That's why I'm holding off before I tear into this. May find a trailer pretty cheap.

Just redid mine for my 18 8 bear. We bought a tandem bobcat trailor and grafted it to the boat trailor. Its one heavyduty sob and I mean heavy. Problem I had was making the boat fit between the wheels and stay leagle. We got everything done but had to go with 13 inch wheels to keep from rubbibg the siddes of the boat.
