You gotta learn to steer with your butt!!!!!! Don't judge me!!!!! :hb: My steer stick, at a comfortable driving height, was right at my butt cheek level. when I shot by myself I got real good at putting that steer stick right against my butt cheek and while my hands were busy reeling or getting a fish in I could steer with my butt. Yes, steering range was limited but i could make myself go in a circle to loop around so I didn't end up on the bank or get to far from the flock of fish I just found! Yeah.....flock!!

It also helps A LOT to tighten up your steering cables so when you let go the fan doesn't go swinging crazy........and maybe even stays put. Mine would stay put if it was calm out and i didn't have the boat rocking too much from walking around or fighting the fish. Don't forget to use your remote stop button if you have to........I did that if I had a fish on, and a tangled line, and a spilled beer and a zebra cake in my hand...........that is just too much for one person to handle while the boat is driving itself!!!

I have remote start on my Honda 3000is. It's a Honeywell brand add on that cost $300 installed. Little keyfob thingy like a car clicker. It does choke for cold start and everything. Probably something available for that motor that does the same thing. You could just kill the engine when you had a fish on. Doesn't help running speed tho...

yep that is what i do just kill the engine they start really easy.iused a eletric door module for my electric choke and an old merc. control handle and box and control cable for carb. took the other handle off probably could have used it for choke also.as i recall the control cable was too short to reach the engine and give me enough wrap around for steering so i spliced two cables together it worked fine.

nope, not yet. Im not very experienced when it comes to engine mechanics so I don't really know what to do haha...being in med-school is pretty time limiting as well so I'll get to it...slower idle speed "coming soon"

maybe someone could be so kind as to explain the terminology of "governor arm" vs. "throttle arm". I know what a governor is and what it does...just not sure where it is. Let me see if I can explain how I see the parts. throttle arm(where my cable is attached in the pic above) has a spring on the back side. This spring goes to another metal arm(governor arm??). When the motor is off the second arm doesn't move if I move the throttle. Im assuming once there is compression in the engine that second arm tightens up?? try not to make fun of me too hard...I can usually figure other stuff out but like I said, I'm lacking in the engine mechanics department.

mine is kinda the same. your govenor arm will be attached to a shaft that goes into the engine block. ofcourse you see where the choke arm spins, the other shaft at the other end of the carb. thats the actual throttle arm. theres a little black screw on it to adjust top end.

what i dont get is why the throttle is based on govenor tension instead of the amount of fuel going in the top.

So I figured it out! Had to do some tinkering with the governor arm and the screw that limits the idle speed. Turns out that the spring holding the throttle arm to the governor was pretty tight from the factory and it wasn't allowing the butterfly valve to close very far. I was essentially running at about 3/4 throttle the whole time! Now it just barely moves along at idle!

I guess u were runnin a lil too fast... 3/4 throttle is moving! Glad u got it figured out.
