IMO if you go raised only go high enough to get the lights under the deck, this is better on smaller boats. On a bigger boat where you have more deck space I prefer a flush deck with an enclosed light rail.

As said above its mostly personal preference to a point, when you get to that point everyone will say you crazy lol

Ok here's another question... If you guys have flushed deck and your are running steering, gas controls, and wires for lights do you have good access to fix any problems you may have? If I do a flush deck what do you all think about making one side of the deck flip up for easy access?

I'm sure this topic has been talked about a lot on here. For the people that have a flush deck with lights on top, how offen does you line get tangled in the lights?
Never.

I hate the glare from having your lights above the deck. Either build an airboat style light rail or put them under the deck.
No glare from mine.

That's a good idea but why not have it open under the deck?

It would be open for the first 18 inches of the back part of the deck then there is a fron seat/bench in the front about 6 inches under the gunwales so that would leave 6-8 inches to get under the deck to fix any problems, example ive never had it happen BUT wires get ripped out of or the steering for the fan needs adjusted... I'm just thinking of all the stupid things that can happen on the water that should be easy fixes but its wont be because of limited space to work in.

Mine like I said is flush and there is a 4 inch gap between the deck and the bench seat that it comes back to and also I have a door cut in the middle of the deck so I can use the space for storage and to hide wires

I enjoy my flush deck. The only thing about it that is an issue is burning your shin on the back of the light housings. Them things get hot (400w HPS) and if you hit something, the first thing you grab to break your fall is always the light housing. Going to put a burn guard on them though and then it will be flawless in my opinion. I don't like a raised deck because I like to do other things with my boat (fishing, duck hunting, ect.) But like they said before, it's all personal preference.
