With the outboard and what motor and setup do you have?
i'm not calling anyone a liar or anything but "some" (not all) of the numbers seem inflated. i got a 2072 alumacraft with a 2005 90hp 2 stroke merc. And it dont matter if its just me or 3 other people it runs 32 tops all day long never more. Maybe its just operator error and one day i will set my jackplate just right and gain 7 mph![]()
JP you are 100% correct. My boat is NOT built for speed. I have a 357 pound four stroke 70, 150 pound genny with no gas, Battery, gas etc. Plus my boat is a true flat bottom nicked to heck. Before you consider someone a liar or think they may be stretching the truth, keep in mind there are 100's of different ways to setup a boat. Just because one guys boat will flat out smoke another guys boat with the same exact size boat and motor, doesn't mean anyone is "stretching" the truth. Simple things like fuel location and quantity, battery quantity, deck material and size, tunnel or no tunnel, pods or no pods, generator size, light type and weight, generator size, hull design and thickness, how the inside is finnished with skins or no skins, the actual rake of the boat, square chine or round chine ect, ect, ect. The list goes on. Just sayin it aint right to doubt a mans posted speeds untill you know the specs of the boat. GPS don't lie. I can back up my numbers.
i understand exactly what your saying. all boats are just differnet. personally if your boat gets up quickly out of the hole, i wouldnt be all that concerned with the top end. it does seem to me that you might be able to get more out if your set up but who knows without seeing it and being in it. then again you may have everything perfect and it just aint gonna fly.travis ur speed seems reasonable to me, i was just referring to some other ones. On the old bfc there was a thread like this and some people were claiming 40mph from 2072's with 90hp setups, and i always thought maybe it was my trim position but after two yrs thats still the best i can muster out of her lol
very true i have a 1852 southfork with a 115 johnson and all i could get last year was 40 with 3 guys and gear. on gpsBefore you consider someone a liar or think they may be stretching the truth, keep in mind there are 100's of different ways to setup a boat. I forgot to mention I have float pods. I also want to say that my boat gets really good fuel mileage. I can go from hwy 21 to the loc n dam when the river is up and flowing and then back about on less than than a 12 gal tank of gas with fuel to spare.1756 G3 60HP Yamaha two stroke. 33mph gps. Usually around 30 is the average speed. That's fast enough for me.
