i just signed up for this site i am looking to get into bowfishing i have thought about it for a while but finally picked up the stuff to attach to my bow and i also have a boat that i could use to get out there but its not a marsh boat and it has a regular trolling motor on it

i would love some tips and advice on this as i have never done this before and have almost no idea where to start thanks for any input and advice

Being from Payson you have a heck of a lot of fish right by you!!! Utah lake is a great spot to shoot fish. I'd recommend trolling the edges (right up next to the phrag and cattails) real slow.....if the day is calm you'll see big balls of them surface feeding out from the edge. Troll up on them and let em' have it!!! If I make it down to Utah Lake I'll post it up here and we can all go out together. Good luck and welcome to the ADDICTION!!!

Welcome
By regular trolling motor do you mean a gas kicker or electric trolling motor.
If it is electric you are good to go as is. If its a gas kicker you need to build some steering and front throttle controls for the front of the boat.
getting started is easy if you dont have lights go out during the day, get some good polorized glasses and start lookin for fish. You can get a genny and some lights and go at night to.
There is alot of good info here on how to set up your rig. Just do some searchin and you can find what ever you need

by regular motor i mean a gas motor 7.5 horsepower kicker i was thinking that i can steer and shoot from the back of the boat

it takes some practice, but you can steer and shoot from the back of the boat. i do it with my MM. i dont get as much shooting as the guy up front and cant make as quick of shots, but it can be done! just be careful that you pay attention to what is going on and what your engine throttle stick thinger is doing while you are shooting or you can end up in the pond quick! ask me how i know!:pop:

Welcome to the site and the addiction.
