i have a muzzy and i shoot without the rod attachment and dont have any problems... atleast not yet anyways

I use a rod cause I think it keeps the line from twisting up as bad. Plus it gives me some leverage.

They definitely help reels live longer . And not just on big fish. Pulling arrows out of logs and mud is hard on em too.

ive never shot with a rod on the reel, im confused how the rod stop the line from snapping when you forget to push teh button?

Haha...all mine went "kaplunk"(after I tossed them in).Don't seem to have feet breakin' problems with Muzzy's,or hell even Zebco's(as far as feet are concerned).

I like them becuase if you real your line all the way in. if you forget to hit your button the arrow pops off of the string when you try and draw up saves arrows from snapping string and splashing into the deep
