I absolutely know nothing about building a fan i have a 1672 river jon with a 30 horse evinrude my question is would a fan be too heavy for my boat including the generator, tank of gas, and batteries or will i just be able to get rid of the outboard im just really wondering the weight of these builds and if the prices of some of the things needed i know motor is going to vary buy brand but the push/pull steering, prop, and metal for shroud any suggestions would be great.

Just go lite as you can on everything. You may need float pods. Also research as much as you can and dont get in a hurry. I read post after post for over six months before I built my first one.

you need to talk to throughthegills he has a 1672 with one hell of a fan setup

Dont know if I would go all aluminum. Myself like the thin walled steel for my frame work. Not very heavy and it dont crack under stress. There are a few all aluminum setups but they have a crap load of bracing. You dont lose much weight when you have to add all the extra bracing. Plus its more money and you can have it fixed if broke in any town or city if your away from home.

Build it right and you don't need all the extra bracing. But to each their own.
Never built one from aluminum but I would on next one

I know pooh. I wanted all aluminum when I built my first one and after talking to many with aluminum stands I changed my mind. Like you said its up to him.

The pipe aluminum stands I've seen are strong with les bracing than tubing.

And I wouldn't look at no morew than 10mph out of it. Ild also do turn style steering as well

we put a fan on my 1652 it does fine.
want to check it out or drive it before build just let me know man.
mines no expert build but it gets the job done.
