i use solar panels to keep them topped off and a craftsmen smart charger to check and fully re-charge after a trip. smart charger will analyze the batts and let you know if there is a dead cell, and will charge and automatically shut off when its fully charged, and say so on the digital display so theres no guess work.

which style battery tender do ya'll use?

12v batter tender plus. It's a smart trickle. Not certain, but seems like its like 1.25 amp. My onboard charger for my troller batteries is 2 bank, 20 amp per I believe and it's the $200 yellow one you see everywhere can't recall brand.

Get a schumake digital charger from ABC auto. Their cheap and work pretty good. Not sure if that's how its spelled but they will know what your talking about. Now give me my million.

Are those minnkota 3 banks waterproof? That is my biggest concern with getting one. Would Hate to swamp the boat and then roast it.

I use one of the black and decker smart chargers. Was like ninety buck and had it for about two years so far. Auto shut off when its fully charged and wil kick in and out. HAve left it out in the weather and all and never had a problem. Got it from wal mart
