My friend has a Minnkota Endura 55, and it's been getting worse and worse.. 1 works once in awhile SOMETIMES it won't work in 2 but if you wiggle it he said it will work?, and when you go to 5 it does not change from 4... so my question is, does the speed selector need to be replaced? or is it something else?

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Yes. I have done it twice to mine this summer alone, had the same problem it just gets worse until it stops working all together. Mine is a maxxum but should be the same. IMO buy 2 right away they are easy to change and it sucks driving 2 hrs to fish to have to go home 1 hour in because you dont have a spare, trust me:headbang:

yup speed switch for sure! me and kingcan blew out like 6 this spring... i would always have a spare, it's better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it! i ended up push poling us back the the landing one time lucky for us i'm a damn good push poler haha

That would definitely suck! How do they even go out?

Beating the chit outa em haha. Normally it's cuz you have a converter, and i'm not saying the converter is bad but it just makes you feel like "ah chit i'll just run right through that weed bed and not even drain my bat. down" lol at least that's what our case was. It normally just comes from to much resistance on the prop like going through weeds or mud and muck on the bottom. Endura's are pretty well known for blowing em out..

Weeds or running on high all the time heats them up. IMO at least lol

Defintitely sounds like overheating the at the control head burning out the switch. 55 is their biggest 12V I think? I guess that's why!

I burned out an old 27 lb thrust, same deal, old tech switch. I hard wired it to run on high and it does fine now.

yeah we'll see.. it's under warranty so no big deal
No big deal if you are close to an authorized repair center. My board went out on my 80 Riptide, called the shop they said just drop it off....100 miles one way. So I say what if I just ship it.....they say ok but I have to cover shipping both ways. 65 lb and 6 ft. long can't be cheap to ship x2. Not to mention they couldn't say how long it would take since the troller guy only works evenings, and there is no way I can talk to him on the phone, he doesn't take calls since he's only there at night. So to save all the B.S. I'm fixing it myself for 120$ ...........so I guess what I'm trying to say is I hope it's no big deal for you, but you can get a switch for 20$ if you end up in a situation like mine. Good Luck!
