Need Advise on Genny setup

Im getting my new boat together and need some advise from guys that have experience with similar setups. My new setup will have 10 50Watt leds, and maybe a couple small 48w lights on the back. Im also running a 70# motor guide 24v troller right now. Im in process of setting the boat up and have plenty of batteries(6), but dont have a lot of room to mount them in the back of the boat and hate adding a bunch of weight to the boat really. The boat has room for 3 batteries in the back and i was thinking of using one for the big motor and 2 for troller and lights. If i just run 2 batteries for the troller and lights i will definitly need a generator and convertors. I have no experience with a genny. So my question is what is the best setup to run?

10 50watts on 24v = 21 amps
70lb troller is about 50 amps i think.
so 70-75 amps at full power.

I was thinking a champion 2000 with 2 55 powermax's, but i really dont know if that will be sufficient or a good choice for what i need. Can you guys help me out?

I would say you need something more powerful than the pm3-55s, you might end up needing a bigger genny as well then, I don't have time to look at the numbers but look on the lighting forum, there's a lot of good info in the stickies, or someone else chime in but I'm pretty sure you're going to need more than the 55s

Get rid of your DC powered lights.

Get 120 volt Leds and plug them into your brand new champion 2000 Watt inverter.

Use two deep cycles for the troller. When those die go back to your truck get the other batteries and keep fishing.

OTHERWISE

buy a couple converters and run like 400 watts of 120 volt leds...So 8 50's

The last boat i had i ran batteries for a silent setup. If i ran all 10 lights i didnt get quite the run time i wanted, thats the reason for 12v lights. I really dont want to sell these and start over again. I would also like the ability to run silent for short trips or when around areas with a lot of stuff going on. There is also times when shooting the banks around here that we turn off 3 lights because of how quick it drops off and the lack of shot opportunities on that side.

I found a 2400 watt Yamaha for sale locally for around 850. Would that be an ok choice with 2 pm3 55s? Run my troller and lights off 2 batteries hooked up 24v. I usual run my troller on 2 so I don't think that's a huge amp draw.

55amp for troller on high
21amps for 10 50 watt lights @ 24v.

76 amps max

That's a good price on a Yamaha, but I would still consider going AC on the leds instead of DC like others suggested. It will save you on having multiple converters and the need for an extra genny. I know one Honda eu2000 is a 13 amp circuit, I'm sure Yamaha is similar so you would need two for the setup you were wanting originally

Yea, i guess thats where im unsure as well.

I have a good set of batteries(two actually), that i can always start out with them being charged. On most of the lakes i fish the outside 3 lights are useless since it drops off so fast. Most of the time it would be troller running on 2 and 7 50 watt lights on.

Well i went ahead and got 2 pm3 75 amp powermax's and hooked them up in series for 24v. Took it for the maiden voyage last night and everything performed well. Let the generator run the powermax's while we were getting ready to leave the dock and on our way to our spot. They loaded the generator a little harder for that first 15 minutes but the yamaha kept trucking and once it seemed to kick out of that mode it seemed to run 1/2 throttle while lights and troller were on. We only fished 3 hours but when we were headed back to the ramp with the big motor i left genny on and when i unplugged the convertors at the dock the load on the generator didnt change at all. Pretty happy with this setup so far.
