Would look into the WarEagle, would have $1000 in one pocket and a $100 in each back pocket and another $250 in other front pocket and start at about $1000-1200 and pull out the cash let him see it and feel it. When was last registration sticker on boat or registration sticker on trailer tag??? if couple years ago then is just sitting and not being used and use that for your favor.... Good luck but the war eagle didn't look to bad and something to work with

Thanks. It was registered in 2014.

Another question. The transom looks like it was beefed up for the 70hp jet that was on it. If I happen to run a prop, would I need to change anything back there?

Id steer away from a 48" wide boat if you have the time to wait. Find a 1756 at a minimum. Your truck will still pull it and it will be a better overall bowfishing platform. And even 8K will build you a really nice boat in that size range and it will be how you want it. Just make sure you have the ressources to build one, aluminum fabricator, electrical buddy etc etc. half the fun of this sport in my opinion is the build, and anyone who does typucally never stops their build. Its ever evolving.

I had a family member go look at the WE 648 yesterday. I talked to the owner about it and he only came down to $1650. What do you guys think on that price? Im on the fence about it only because anything around here with even an underpowered motor is $4500+. I could have a boat, galvanized trailer, outboard, deck, trolling motor, and even some lights for somewhere around there. I will be primarily fishing 2 people in the boat 90% of the time, and 3 max (2 up front, 1 on rear).

Should i wait to find another boat? Or would i be ok in this one?

What is the boats max HP rating? Figure at least a 30hp min is gonna be needed on that boat. A GOOD newer tiller will cost you at least $2500. I had a 30 on my old 1648 and it was adequate but if you put flooring and all the other stuff in it, weight is gonna be an issue. Whatever the hull is rated for thats the motor i would put on it. But again, after owning a 1648, id hold out for bigger.

It's rated for 40hp. the previous owner had a 70 jet on it, hence the higher transom. The minimum I'd be happy with is 20 mph, so I don't need a real big motor. I get 15mph out of my 9.9 evinrude 2-stroke on my 14' boat now, and just a little faster would be plenty. What size would I need for 20-25 on the war eagle?

My 30hp got me mid 20's on my 1648. But it was a light hull to start with. That WE is a much stouter hull. Id stick with a 40. It also depends on who your fishin buddies are. If they are big guys u will need the hp. If they can shoot youll need the hp. too. It also depends on what water your on. HP can get you out of trouble if needed as well. Most importantly is reliability.

So price seems ok? Also, 2 normal sized (175-200lbs) up front would be fine? A friend is a fabricator and will weld up a flush deck from the first lower deck all the way to the bow, and would do pods if they would help me out. Im out of my element on boats. Do the stats im throwing out make sense?
