Hello guys i just joined this forum and am new to the sport. i look foward to learnin as much as i can cause its a blast. so heres my first question, how many lights would yal suggest on a 17'X54" boat. i had six 250watt hps lights in mind from backwater bowfishing?

What size is your platform?? Looks about twice the size of mine!!I'm happy with my little ole 1275 watt 6 light system.

Yeah, we played around with number and location before I built the rail. 6 worked out well with good coverage so we went with it.

i did some browsing today and i think i decided on 6 250 watt hps on my 5x6 deck. will i be dissappointed, satisfied or pretty impressed?

we use to have 2 400s and 2 250s on my old boat and shot the heck outa some fish... 6 250s will be fine imo..

Just a heads up, like i said if you go with a digital ballast you can go 250 or 400 and the price difference is minimal

its all personal preference but what works for me

Just my 2 cents. We ran 400 HPS along with 250 HPS on our last boat and there was a big difference in the way they penetrate water. Nothing but 400's on the new boat!!!!

i would say u will be satisfied...but plenty of people on here run 4 400s and say thats better...i only got 4 150s on my deck which is roughly 5x5 and it works but im gonna get 2 400s for front this winter

So 4 400hps would be brighter than 6 250hps. im tryin to to keep it under 2000 watts so i can still use my honda 2000 watt generator and wont have have another to take up more space and weight.
