And the asian carp are as thick as we have ever seen. The silvers are averaging 1--12 lbs with many larger ones being shot below the dam, and there are literally millions of them from Utica to Henry. And the bigheads and grass carp are all over the place! Some recent trip photos;

Day Shoot
Hours-5;00am-2pm
Shooters must be registered by 5am. You will be able to register Friday night or starting at 3am the day of the shoot. You can also pre-register thru email or forum PM and pay before the shoot. The shoot begins at 5:00am and ends 2pm. Shooters must check in at the end of the shoot by 2pm. If you are not checked in you will be disqualified. Entry is $20 per shooter, 16 and under are free.
No limit to the amount of shooters on your boat, but the boats safe weight limit and occupancy must not be exceeded. All boats must have all required safety gear and life jackets as required by law. No nets allowed in boats of any kind.
All "Small Fish" contests will be judged by the length of the fish and not weight EXCEPT for the small 6 competition.
The Small 6 competition will be judged by weight. Only one fish per species will be allowed.
Only one prize per person except for Big 6 competition as it is a team competition. Prizes will be awarded according to value. Fish shot in the Big 6 may be used for other fish contests, but all other fish entered in a contest can only be entered in one contest. If a contestant wins more than one fish contest they will be awarded a winning certificate but the prize will be awarded to the next largest fish holder who has not yet won a prize.
Fish may only be taken from the Illinois River or any of its tributaries that can be accessed by water from the Illinois river. Boats may only be launched in the Illinois river.
No exchanging fish between boats.
Trailering allowed between below the Dresden dam and above the Peoria dam. All traffic laws must be observed while trailering.
No alcohol allowed before, during or after the shoot.
Results and current standings will not be viewed until all participants have had their fish weighed.
AMS Illinois Youth Championship Rules- All fish must be shot by participant and be kept in a separate container from all other fish. This will be a big 3 format for all legal species except silver carp. Prizes will be awarded thru a raffle at the end of the shoot.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct, cheating, drinking alcohol, breaking of safety regulations, breaking of fishing regulations traffic laws or coast guard regulations, taking of fish from outside tournament waters or fighting will result in the participant being disqualified.
