Hey guys ill start with the boat first.
1448 flat bottom jon
flat deck all the to the front.
im wanting the fan to get rid of my troller, the fan will be mounted low of course and im thinking it will be a fixed location fan with rudders to keep the boat from tipping.
i have a full machine shop at my disposal so making and modifying the set up is no big deal but im wondering if this engine will be worth it i have one of there 10hp engines on my log splitter and i have not had a issue with it.
will the 6.5hp and a 32 in 2 blade be enough for a pushing fan?

Sounds like a great idea but what about reverse? Ive got a 14 ft also, been thinking about putting a fan on also. Make sure ya put pictures up if you do!

No reverse if you go fixed stand w/rudders. Be just like an airboat.

if i get stuck enough for needing reverse ill use a push poll....LOL
but after seeing the video of Carpzilla's 1648 with how much higher his fan is then what i was planning ill will have no issue putting the fan low and be able to swivel.
i think im going to need more then a 6.5hp i might just go with a 13hp so i dont have to have the fan on full speed just to move along and having reserve power is fantastic for those fast carp

You'll wind up full throttle all the time. Haven't been on a fanboat yet that you didn't need to be full blast

our good fishing speed is slightly above idle (and its a pretty fast fishing speed) ill put a gps on it tonight if i go.. Only time were consistently at full blast is if were dragging bottom

what blade should i buy for this set up then if i get the 13hp i was thinking ill need to get the 5 blade 26 in so i can keep it low in the boat the bigger the fan the higher ill have to make the stand and that will be problematic.

just a tip if your interested, duromax has the exact same motor as the carrollstream for less money. I got a 16hp electric start motor shipped to my door for $289. Im running a hascon prop on my setup and it works great. It pushes the snot out of my 1754. I have had me plus two sasquatch sized men and over 100+ carp in the boat, and it pushed the boat just about anywhere I wanted to go.

i will never use duromax engines. i tried one from northern tool on my log splitter it lasted about 20 minutes before it blew a piston ring they replaced it and the next one they sent me laster a week until the carb jet blew out. i got a full refund
15ton log splitter needed a 15hp engine i got the 16hp duromax and it was underrated
the 16hp only puts out around 12hp.

well maybe I'v just had good luck with them. I wanted a fan quick and was on a tight budget. I will get a bigger setup (boat and all) soon, but for now its great.

you should check out the harbor freight engines we have three. two 6.5hp on mini bikes and a 13hp on a 1756 we never had a probloem with them. if u buy the 2 year waranty and some thing breaks u take it back and they will give u a new one. i think the 6.5hp were 99.99 and the 13hp was 349.99

I got a 6.5 Grey Hound on a Go Devil long tail that is stronger and runs faster then the honda that was on it before I put it on there.
