Is your arrows flying straight outa your bow? A well tuned bow will help with better penatration on them fishes, you can shoot all the poundage you want if the arrow is hitting the water sideways you will not get good penatration.
I have noticed it kicking to the right on long shots but I think its more so the way I release

I may have to try those. I have a friend that really likes the three barbs. Are they a bi*ch to get out of the grass/mud when you miss? Cause I miss ALOT. lol
I havnt had to struggle much to get out of grass but if your shooting heavy poundage and stick it in mud then it's a lil agravating but we usually shoot numbers with sure shot penetrators and big fish with grapples

buy a big fish adapter for your muzzy tip. turns it into a 4 barb and you still dont have to take it all the way off. shot a 60 pound bighead last year and boated it without a backup shot using these tips

my daughter shoots 20 lbs.and has like a 23 inch draw and punches threw all her fish now....but when i first got her started she had a ton of pull offs, her bow wasnt as tuned as it should have been...now she can shoot at fish ten yards away and blow threw em.....

Bend the barbs in so they are close to the body of the point and keep a sharp tip on.
A big problem with recurve shooters is snap shooting and half drawing on fish and not getting enough penetration on the big fish, you have to push the tip thru the other side and it won't happen if you snap shoot. That is why I started shooting compounds, just not enough penetration on big fish with my recurves consistently and I was shooting in the low to mid 50's.
Also as others have said, don't horse in big fish, play them out, let them take line and always get a 2nd arrow in a big fish.
Those Muzzy points will work fine and is all I shoot and take many big fish with them, heck big fish is all I shoot.

If it just does it sometimes it could be in your realease but if it does it all the time you need to tune your bow. Also when you are tuning do it like you would while fishing for example dont come all the way back and anchor while tuning if thats not how you shoot fish. Your bow needs to be able to shoot good at all points of the draw cycle if you dont anchor everytime you are out fishing.

Are you shooting off the shelf If so ya might want to think about some kind of rest so you have a way to get your arrow flying straight. Bowfishing arrows have a really stiff spine & some of them don't shoot worth a $hit off the shelf of a recurve.BTDT !!

If ya want to put a Muzzy point on an Interlock grapple you have to cut the threads down on a lathe to 1/4' diameter & re cut the threads with a 1/4 " die. I've done several of em like that for shooting bigheads & havn't lost one yet. Grass carp are a little differen't because you can get the point hung in a scale & the barbs won't open up.

First place to start is to make sure your arrows are flying straight like Michael(Stickmofish) said.

I shot a recurve too till I picked up & Osprey & pulled it back. Within 5 minutes I was on the phone ordering one.

I shoot the Muzzy short barbs with a carp tip. Never have had a problem losing big fish. Shot a couple of 40+ commons last year and a big buff this year. They hold pretty well but with any big fish you can't horse them in. No different than a hook and line, play with them and get another arrow in them if possible and you'll land them more often than not.

Also consider using the Big Fish adapter as well especially on the bigger carp, grass carp, buffalo and bigheads, they really do double the holding power and are just as easy to get fish off as the standard point.
As others have said you really do need to ensure your arrow is coming off the bow as straight as possible, will increase your hits on deeper water fish and ensure more penetration as well. Work on coming to full draw with your shots and get all the thrust out of your bow as possible, no problem with snap shooting and short drawing on small fish, but can be a big problem with the bigger, deeper fish with a recurve.
