I seen the Ordinance for myself. I can find it for you if you don't believe it. No, the city limits doesn't touch, but the Corp pretty much gave that lake to the city and now it IS city limits. Nobody is telling you what to do, do what you feel like you must. Just know that you've been warned by your BFC family.

"It measures 22,745 acres (92 km²) in size with a storage capacity of 490,000 acre feet (600,000,000 m3) and a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 m). The dam is currently owned by the City of Dallas. Interstate 30 bisects the lake. The lake was originally named Forney Lake for the nearby town of Forney, Texas. After the City of Dallas incorporated the lake, it was renamed after a living person, Ray Hubbard, who presided over the Dallas Parks and Recreation System board from 1943 to 1972. However, the company that administrates the distribution of its waters is still known as Forney Lake Water Supply Corp. The reservoir is currently managed by Dallas Water Utilities"

I believe there is a city ordinance, I'm just not sure I believe that city ordinances are enforced on the lake. There are other ordinances I'm sure they are not enforcing out there. Thinks like possession of weapons (almost every angler has a knife that is too large to carry in town), open containers, etc.

Don't take me the wrong way guys. I'm not trying to break the law and I'll be hesitant to head back out there before I figure it out. I don't go there very often anyway, it's usually just a spur of the moment, short trip, gotta work in the am kinda thing. I read all I could find and called and spoke with the warden at the Mesquite TPWD office before we went for the first time. I try to do that before I go anywhere I'm not real sure about. If there is something clear somewhere that says you can't bowfish in the lake, I would like to see it.

So, I found a map of the city limits and it shows the city limits to run straight out 80 and around the lake. Go figure. They were given rights to the water in order to control the locks not to enforce petty ordinances at their discretion, but whatever I guess.

I see what you are talking about with Lake Tyler and see that TPWD amended their website to note the ordinance. I guess that was a bad deal for yall? What happened? Wasn't there people trashing the ramps or something like that or was that somewhere else I'm thinking of?

Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I have run into PD several times out there but never been harassed about bow fishing. Looks like we could get a ticket if we caught barney fife on a bad day though. Would be nice if they made it a little easier to be a law abiding citizen and keep all levels of LE on the same page when it comes to stuff like this... Hahahaha, something to do with government that actually makes sense. Who am I kidding?

The lake is patrolled by Dpd it has ABSOLUTLY nothing to do with tpwd: tpwd will stop you but not do anything about Bowfishing. Dpd patrols the lake also. the law has to do with water supply. It was explained to me but I forget/ if you dig Into it it's actually illegal to swim in the lake also....Almost every ramp and public dock out there has a no Bowfishing or no projectile sign on it too....

*edit, sorry just read the post above me that says same thing

I fished out there a few times earlier in the year it was decent, the boat ramp i used is dry now. what ramps are yall launching from?

I've never seen DPD out there past 9pm, I usually wait till 9 then go on my way, never had any issues w/ DPD. the GW said he didn't enforce city rules and as long as we were legal (fishing licenses) he didn't give a chit.

DallasNFA, really the only ramps to launch out of currently are the 2 off of dalrock/i-30 and the 1 off to the north of horizon/i-30 (supposedly there's a launch fee there). I've never run into any issues, but then again I've never been in direct contact with DPD. The water level is s**t, and with my current no-lights situation (ballast box probs, bruh) so it's just been day shooting. All of my usual spots aren't producing, but I've found a few good alternatives that I believe would be better at night...

It's not Tarrant County Regional (no air power). It's Trinity River Authority, so I don't know.
I think some Dallas guys tried to host a tournament a few years back, but I wasn't involved so I can't remember.
