How would everyone feel about changing this shoot to a numbers shoot? I was on the river Tuesday night and big fish are scarce but the numbers look real good for the river.

Unfortunately I can't make it this night, but i would be interested in other shoots. Do y'all have a local club or something? i live about 30 minutes from Red Oak Landing and would like to get involved with other bowfishermen in the area.

Yes we have a local club with a shoot every month. You can see the club posted in this forum section - Northwest La bowfisherman


As far as the tournament goes, we advertised the Big 20 tournament from the club meeting where we should keep the format intact until the tournament where we can vote to shift it to a numbers and big 5 shoot (pot will be split $15.00 to numbers and $10.00 to big 5 per person). This will allow for all boats to compete equally. I personally prefer the numbers & big 5, but do not want to discourage the newcomers.

Going scouting this weekend, I will Let y'all know whats up, but I wouldn't mind a number and big 5 shoot because We went last weekend and kill alot but nothing over 10lbs.

Red oak is just south of coushatta off of 480, on the right. Red oak is a small oxbow, check out the map and it's the oxbow just north of the dam, on the eastside

Go south of Coushatta 6 miles on Hwy 480 (past the courthouse) and you will see a sign for Red Oak Recreation Area to the right.

You MUST stay on the in the Red River system on water that is accessible to the public from the main river channel.
