I added two light bars for spotting channel markers and buoys, something i can turn on and off( this is where LED fishing lights would come in handy, which i am switching too this winter) a spot light is helpful and most common but regardless of the hazards the law is the law. A good on board GPS is worth its weight on any fishing boat for sure. If you are concerned about not seeing things in the water then you need to slow down and give your self time to spot them with a legal lighting source plain and simple. That goes back to the common sense goes a long way comment. We need to be curtious to other boaters, bowfisherman and especially to larger boats who can not necessarily maneuver as well as our small crafts. Thats MO anyway.

Let's not forget there's a man laying in a hospital bed right now and has been for some time because he decided to rely on his GPS. They're great and useful tools but nothing is better at judging distance at night then your own eyes and actually seeing where you are going. Spot lights aren't bright? Driving lights aren't bright? Of anyone here believes that feel free to meet me in oncoming traffic and I'll let my 50" light bar on my truck prove you wrong. I'll even prove you wrong with the 20" driving light on my boat. Go round and round about this until everyone is blue in the face but the it keeps coming down to the same thing. Be courteous of other boaters but do whatever you feel is necessary to keep you and those on board safe out on the water. For you MD boys, I'm sure y'all have been to DC, that jungle is just as dangerous as a river channel after a heavy rain. The law says you can't carry a loaded gun there though... you'd be fool not to. A law is a law but I'm not putting my life or anyone elses life at risk for it. Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6...

I work there. and you can say the whole judged by 12 than carried by 6 horse**** all you want. They put me in jail for 14 hours and cost me 3500 dollars for a knife. You will get judged by 12 and then raped by 6 black guys with dreads is what will happen.

Ouch! I think my butt is suffering from sympathy pain! :(

Maybe you should be off the river at night then. Little tip, don't drive at the lights!

It's a coast gaurd law not a state law, they can stop you for running your big lights because it is illegal. That being said, most will leave you alone if there's no other boat traffic around. If there's another boat coming then be courteous and kill the lights. Slow down if you have to but the extra minute it takes could cause alot bigger problem. Like running head on into skyhook because he doesn't know how to make way hahaha. Wardens will stop you but usually as an excuse (even though they don't need one) to check for other violations -life jackets, etc. As long as you're legal they'll let you go on about your night in my experience
This guy is a got daum IDIOT, I should make way for some kunt! So where the phuck am I supposed to drive across the daum marsh? I'm running legal you idiot! So your the see all know all for ever state I take it!

We have coast gaurd and fish and game here too. Maybe they're writing y'all tickets all the time because you Maryland folks don't know how to act right, seems to be a trend here. Promotional staff has nothing to do with this, I'm advocating safety if anything. Folks hit enough stuff running the big lights so if it's safer to leave them on then by all means do so but be courteous about it towards other boaters. The $65 ticket isn't worth tearing up boats or even worse, your life. Common sense will go a long ways.
Its because of idiots with your same mentality is why they are writing tickets. For me aint had a maritime ticket in 25 years. I abide by the law............

I haven't almost hit a boat lit up like a parking lot in...ever. you're reaching with that name calling stuff buddy.

That escalated quickly.
Gary, not lecturing ya,but I have been confronted about it several times up here and twice it wasnt me...was informed the next time it happened tickets would be written...just warning ya.I did argue quite extensivly about it too..."makes no difference, its a COAST GUARD rule and is not tolerated is what he told me(the last warden at Tulloch, and was asking if it was me at Pedro)

I'm kind of enjoying watching skyhook implode with that self centered "woe is me" attitude but it's getting too easy now. I'll save the trolling for F book where it belongs haha. Don't put yourself at risk but don't endanger others by blinding em simple as that...feel like I've said that before...

Appreciate the insight, still gotta see where I'm going.

Never had any issues with wardens, being polite has its advantages.

It's really simple, be curteous to others on the water.

The last time I was in a boat that got stopped, I was 19. There were no lights involved, but I was lit. It's easy to add two years to your age when you're drunk. It's a whole lot harder to subtract 2 years from your birthdate so the CO can write you a PI warning when you are drunk.
