I hosted one about ten years ago guaranteed a 1750 dollar purse 1000.00for first to 250 for 3rd ... I did not shoot it for thought it may cause conflict ... 3 boats showed up .... wish I would have shot it .. I will always shoot any others I host :spank:

I helped put on 7 tournys this summer if i couldnt shoot them i wouldnt have helped put them on they arent what i would call my home lakes the close one is an hr and a half and the rest of them are 2 to 4 hrs away .

I've done both. To me it's the size of the tournament. But I sure didn't shoot it or not based on competition or not, I didn't shoot em cause I KNEW I'd be disadvantaged, like Cajun Ag said, and because I wanted start and weight in to be as smooth as possible and ready to go when the first boats arrived.

I say shoot it if you want, but know that your gonna start from behind and leave the fish early.

Hell yea - why wouldn't you? The guy running the tournament usually does not have enough time to properly scout for the tournament because of dumpsters, fish disposal cancelling, noise complaints, and any other bs that goes on. That is why he is usually drinking a cold one when you see him (cause hes stressed out about ****).

you shoot it end of question not many bowfisherman would go to the trouble to have a tourney and not going to shoot in it. most people walk away from shooting without saying a thank you for your time, you never hear the good things but you sure hear about people complaining about the littlest things after for sure. For better outdoors take a kid hunting & fishing it's our future. randy

Good deal guys :)

A few of us were heavily considering hosting one in the Detroit area next year, and obviously I'd love to shoot my home waters, but in the rare event we did place I'd hate nothing more than for people to have an issue with that. On a side note if this does happen Ill be pulling a good chunk of money out of my own pocket just to get the pot started, so hopefully that would offset any negative feelings on it anyways.

True that. Good thing we don't do it for thank yous...lol. The few that know say thanks and I appreciate it but I don't expect to hear it.

I've put on 5 tournaments and shot in every one. This year we finally won one and I'm glad that we had already set the payout percentages prior to the date of the shoot. It took some of the stress off of our shoulders when we took home the money.

But you put on a great shoot P!

I see no reason not to shoot, but like P said if he tournament director is serious about making it a good shoot, he probably hasn't had time to prepare himself and scout

I hosted 2 tournaments this last yr got second at one and won the other. One shoot had 4 months notice other had a month. Plenty of time for people to scout. Plus alot of the other boats shoot their too. I personally never scout a tournament. And do well.

Oh dont misunderstand me, I am going to shoot the tournament and strongly encourage every tournament director to shoot theirs. Im just saying the tournament director and team usually have a ton of stuff going on that usually takes away from their ability to scout proficiently. You will be surprised when you think you will win on your own waters and you have an advantage, then you suddenly realize you still have some tricks to learn.

I would say shoot it too. Lots of work there....I've never put one on but know guys that do. I've never heard anyone complain about the directors shooting and winning. And I always say thanks! Well, the times I didnt there was no disrespect intended, just a slow down of the thought processes :)

Yes , we put on shoots twice a month ussually in Nashville, we shoot them , its an instant loss when your having the shoots unless you have a bunch of sponsors, then it takes some of the fun out and gets serious.....
