From reading some of the threads on here, this has happened multiple times in the past.
No backups? Corrupt backups? Backups not offline? Backup restores never tested?
Whatever the case, you should fire whomever you are paying to manage the site. Not very professional.

I hope your computer skills are better than your reading skills then...

This has NEVER happened in the past. The site came online from scratch 3 years ago when we BOUGHT the domain from the previous owner. So the starting over had to do with leaving an incompatible tech on another server to come here.

In regards to my forums which have been running since 1996, this is the first and ONLY crash and loss of info.

Once in 15 years is still once too many so perhaps I should take your advice and fire myself. Of course that means I wont be dropping $1500 in a weekend to bring multiple sites back up. Sites that served 20,000 members, all of which never had to contribute one red cent. As it should be in my opinion.

Then again, since you seem to be the first person to take this position, I guess it wasnt really much on the advice side and I will see what I can do about extending that 15 year stretch next time.

Guys there were no warnings because we had a server meltdown and it corrupted all our databases. Do you actually think we would just dump 10,000 members and 1.4 million posts?

As of this morning this meltdown is costing us over $2500

Believe me we didn't want this anymore than you did.

Just back from a month vacation away from computers. The melltdown is really a sad happening. Good to see you have all up and running smoothly again. Thanks for all your work which makes BFC the very best.
