Need some feedback about what has happened here at my secret fishing hole. Ive got a body of water here in North Carolina that I do really well with big catfish. I only kill a few to eat from time to time and pretty much let them swim when not in need of fillets. I'm talking over 30 lb. blues everytime I go. Well I took a young guy and let him kill a few and it set him on fire. Next thing you know he bought a bow,built him a deck with lights on his little jon boat, told others and 2 more of his friends are in the process of building them a bow boat.I'm like DAMM! I know that we should take a kid fishing and grow the sport but now its caused all kind of problems. He posted pics on facebook of catfish in a barrel full to the top that he shot. All the local pole fisherman have gone ballistic and are saying we are going to hurt the population etc. Im NEVER taking another newbie.And to be honest I didn't appreciate them doing me like that. What do u guys think about this? I called him and told him not to post pics and to keep his mouth shut. My girlfriend tells me why do u care? Its legal for us to kill catfish so why not show them off. Im torn because shes right but I have always tried to fly under the radar and not show all my cards. I say post all the carp pics you like. Just wanted some opinions of you guys

Yep I never take anyone to my honey hole not even my team mates. Taking newbes they get the best known spot in the area to shoot numbers of 2 - 5 lb carp. My buddies get to go my better spots that produce big fish but only I know the honey hole that holds state records

I've never fished with you but I know most of your holes on the trinity and several holes on the sabien and all of your holes on martin lake and I've never gave up dime lol I've done the same thing took people fishing now they fish my spots more than I do
I agree 100%... I take no one to my spots...no one...Yea I'm greedy, yea I'm selfish, I don't care...$2,500 per fish if you want to fish with me in my honey hole...Yea posting pictures is fun at first but I don't do it anymore...maybe one out of 15 gets put up for social media and zero get put on the forum...I like taking new people fishing when I go exploring new water but never take them straight to your honey hole.

YEP. Learned this one when I was 13 and took a couple buddies quail hunting w me. I was the only one that had permission, but they went ahead and went without me several times after that. I was p!ssed and was talking to my dad about it. He said "no reason to be mad, it's a lesson you were bound to learn eventually. Now you know, never take ANYONE to the honeyholes."

Took a guy once to get carp fillets for his grandads special catfish bait recipe. He was a guy who doesn't have the means to get a decent boat, and I was honestly just trying to help. He didn't want to shoot, just wanted the fish, so I took him so he could simply take the fish home. That one guy has told more people about that spot than you could imagine! To heck with one boat! There will be 5 there every weekend! Lessons learned 1)keep your honey holes safe 2) no good deed goes unpunished.

I just got in from shooting some big gar and bigheads and there are only 2 people I would tell about where. They know how it works and will keep quiet. I know a guy at work that wants to go all the time but he cant shoot a shad without putting it on facebook.
