Built (kind of) a 7.62x39 AR Platform off GunBroker.com and eBay

Bought a ATI composite lower, Hardened Arms Upper, Modified Full Auto Bolt Carrier Group (supposed to work better in 7.62) all off GunBroker for $575. $200 in optics, mounts, etc off eBay. Pinned it all together, worked out few kinks, shoots 1.5 inch groups at 100 with surplus 123gr JHP's. Only pic I have here is from my tree stand coyote hunting.

Very happy with it.

Best advice I can tell u is do not by anything that a individual built with out knowing there level of gunsmithing!!! If u going ar-10 Armalite been building them the longest quality ar-10 for the money and it will shoot to.

I know this is an old thread... But, build one! I was looking at complete rifles and got frustrated with all the things i'd end up changing anyways.... Solution? decided to build my own! I got an LMT upper with a Wilson Combat 16" Barrel 1:9 twist with a Yankee Hill free float quad rail for about $600, an Anderson Arms lower for $60, then bought a mil spec trigger/parts kit, and ordered a Hogue stock, grip, and rail covers. Topped it with a Nikon M-223 one piece mount and a Nikon Prostaff BDC scope with turrets. I had never messed with an AR before, and after a 15min youtube video i built the thing by myself in a half hour. I don't think i'll ever buy a complete AR, the build was a blast and the gun is EXACTLY the way i want it for my first one.

I'm sure Rambo has decided by now but I'd build. This isn't a current pic but here's mine- Rock River upper and lower, JP Enterprises 223 wylde supermatch barrel with black teflon coating, JP adjustable gas block, JP free float handguard, geissele hi-speed national match trigger, hogue grip, Rock River buttstock, JP scope mount, JP bolt, axts raptor charging handle, bad-ass short throw safety, vltor flash hider, vortex viper scope

A good quality .308 can be bought at palmetto state armory for under 1,000 dollars. they have them on sale regularly and a lot of the time they even have free shipping

Quality and it works is way different. You're not gonna build what I would consider quality for anywhere near 1000
Not really.....
If it goes bang every time you pull the trigger, it doesn't get any better.
I had a cheap franken-gun made of random spare parts. Ran thousands and thousands of rounds and beat the living chit out of it in competition. Not a piece on that rifle was what you'd be calling "quality." But I ran it next to a lot of LMT, BCM, Noveski, Seekins etc and it held it owns. Hell last year in the Run N Gun (one of the largest shooting biathilons in the country) I finished 6th over all (I DQ'd a stage which cost me a 2nd place finish) with a bone stock 16" M&P15. Ran the 500 yard stage in 25 seconds flat.....
Now, I have my "nice" ARs too. Rifles im sure you'd consider "quality." But my $3500 ARs won't do anything a $600 one can't.
