I had an 80 On my 1860 and it done great. It was the biggest I could get with the copilot remote... I will not own another style troller. the remote steer is the cats meow.

If I needed one I would be all over that.

I've got an 80 and wish I'd have done a 101. Would prob bite the bullet and convert if not for the 24/36v thing. Really wish Minnkota made a 24v 101, but NOOOOO...

Awesome info guys, thanks! Been scouring CL for a while, sad thing is I know I saw a big riptide on there a while back....but when you want it, it ain't there!
I just got a 101 riptide for 600 with a 62 inch shaft. I'm prolly the reason it's not there anymore lol

Like 3-4 hours and I can tell my batteries are getting weak. And I'm running the high dollar AGMs. No idea how long before it actually goes dead because I always kick on the converter as soon as she shows signs of slowing down.

Thanks guys. 3-4 hours....that sucks. I'm going LED and will already have 6 batteries in the boat and don't want to have to add 2 more for more troller life. I can run my 24v 65lb 7-8 hours for tourneys, batteries are seriously weak by the end but it gets the job done. I know it's covered elsewhere and I'll search, but what size genny would be needed just to run the converter for 2 batteries?

BTW, I have a big@ss pontoon so batteries should run longer on a flat bottom.
1200w (running) to run a 24v/40a converter. Gennys idle below 60% and start to trip off above 80%.

What kind of trolling time are you guys getting with the Riptide 80.....just batteries no genny? Will be used in clean, non moving, open water. Will it run all night at mid power?
....I am not running a Riptide,but a Maxum 80,and with two Wal-Mart 32 Series batts can get 6-7 hours+ at mid power

.............I run 13 27 watt, and 2 50 wats LEDS on one 32 series batt, and get about 4 hours before I have to kick on the Genny, which is a Champion 3500.If I run the troller 3/4 to high,I have converters on all batts in the boat(4 counting the starter batt)and just fire the Genny and good to go
