It boils down to common sense.. I live on a lake and although we don't have airboats, we do have some loud speed boats.. But that's only during the day mostly.. There's a big difference between a genny running and an airboat when it comes to noise! To be so arrogant as to say "if it pisses you off don't live on the lake" is about as stupid a comment as can be made! Point is.. If you don't self regulate and use common sense a few ruin it for everyone.. How many of us use to have 4-wheel'n places, hang out spots, swimming holes, hunting spots or whatever else that got shut down because some people didn't use common sense or just didn't give a damn and left garbage or tore stuff up?? Fact is.. I could care less.. But you better not take the argument that you have as much right as anyone.. Because this is America.. You don't anymore!! So use some sense when on populated lakes!
homeboy the blowboat we were in is about as quiet as u can get one. we were idling around and got shot at... not once but more like 10 times. but i guess thats ok its cool to shoot at people. getting pissed at airboats on a lake would be about like me getting pissed for a truck driving down the road in front of my house with loud pipes. im gonna start shooting at them. these people do not own the lake (all though he told me he did) and if they have an issue they have options. 1. call the GW. 2. call the police. 3. shine a spot light in my eyes. 4. im pretty sure shooting at every body that comes by isnt it. We immediatly shut the motor off after we saw what was going on to appoligize and to tell the nice young man that we would leave and not return. he did not accept our appoligy. at the of the day i never take my airboat around houses if i can help it. im gonna keep fishing and they can keep shooting just hope and pray they keep it in the air and dont level it out.

I agree with both, we need to do our best to keep them quiet as we can and the shooting is bullchit!! You got an issue call the fuzz.

And as far as the noise is concerned, even prop manufacturers are trying to make quieter props because even they see a issue with noise and the general population. So mufflers should be a standard( and I don't mean glass packs )....... As well as running dry during a tournament. :re:

I heard a airboat idling at the launch and thought boy that thing is actually pretty quiet. Than it took off and we could hear it in the truck for the next 10 minutes. That lake was bad because of the tunnel effect in which sound traveled. Its tough to quiet 500 hp but sure are cool.

I'm not disagreeing with ya.. I'd be pissed if i got shot at!! And it sounds like you all were trying to use common sense and be respectful.. But some don't! And they're the problem.. My point is, you have to be careful about how you present your argument.. If you say I have every right to be there.. That's true to a point.. But if you or joe blow is wide open all night around every house on a lake, there will be issues.. And if there is a noise regulation then you and others possibly loose that "right" to be on the lake with air boat, genny or whatever.. All it takes are people complaining to make a radical change.. That's pretty evident in our society as the system bends over backwards for the few because it's PC or easier to just do away with something. I certainly don't condone shooting at you for it but all it takes is one azzhole!

I work every other weekend at a hospital, and carry a pager and get called out all hours of the night. Should I use the mentality of I'M SLEEPING HERE during the day when the loud speed boats are going? No if I lived on the lake......and yes, with a public lake, noise at night is just as common as during the day. now with this said, the lake is designed to make it worse than a normal lake with the bluffs, and to be honest, I do not know of an airboat that is not mufflered. They are loud, and the bluffs compounded that. It was for a few days, and most likely will not be there again, but even if it is, what is a few nights out of a year vs. the boats all summer long during the day? I know normal people go to bed at night...what happens when that normal person has a major medical issue in the middle of the night? should I the abnormal one become normal and have you wait till a "reasonable hour" or should I get up at all hours of the night....now this is not just a few days a year, this is every other weekend.....I know...it's my job and it only makes sense, and so should living on the lake you deal with what the lake offers....but politics always abounds,,,,,,

I run LED's off a big foot switch so I can kill the side lights for respect to people outside and other fishermen and a troller I've been cussed on every body of water I've been on.. you CANNOT please everyone but just always try to be respectful I get a lot of people that love what we do and ask questions and love seeing g us return to there coves

We can turn this "Homeowners shooting at boats" into a political discussion, so Im only saying this.... If necessary, shots will be returned, I am licensed to carry and I will do whatever is necessary to protect myself, my team and anyone else in or around my boat. Homeowners have no right to shoot at anyone for being loud in public, whether in a boat or on the street... I will call 911, I will leave the area, but if I start taking rounds while Im trying to leave I will return fire...

This tournament needs to be moved next year to a bowfishing friendly lake then. i think what Bass Pro did this year was nothing short of amazing...but if the locals want to ban a type of watercraft or not allow an exemption...move it. Like warrior said...we all need to stick together.

I just love how its made out to be all about the airboats creating the noise pollution. Fan boats are loud when they have to throttle up and down all night long, you guys with the 5k and 7k generators on troller boats with boxes covering them on 3 side creating essentially a big echo box out the back of the boat those are loud. Those lights we ALL run which shine in peoples houses at god awfull hours of the night really make folks mad. Lets face it folk ALL of us piss homeowners off who live on or near the lake/river some way shape or form so instead of pointing the finger at an airboat or a fanboat or a troller with a loud ass generator or you guys that run 300k lumens of light lets all just stick together and stand up for the sport and stop pointing fingers once they take airboats its gonna be fanboats then a decible rating for generators in trollers then a light pollution restriction.

I bet the motel, gas stations and resturant owners didn't ***** about us at all. 500+ people spending money was great for Branson. Too bad some will ***** about anything. We must all stick together. Airboats, fan boats and trollers.
I agree. Hell I don't think u could fish guntersville or at least have big tournaments there if it wasn't for the businesses an city council people for the most part bein for it.... That being said tho, to make it easier just move it
