A 300 Verado outta do the trick!

Minimum 90, have a 115 on a 2072 and runs great. Just remember if under powered you can't use it even if want to, if over powered is easier on motor, and if conditions permit you can haul azz. You can always show self control and back off the throttle, and extra motor could get you out of a jam possibly like outrunning a storm or getting to ramp in a medical emergency. What is max HP rating on boat????

max ratings are BS. its only a recommendation. having enough torque to turn a monster prop is important(large pontoon props for heavy loads). think about it this way- you can never have to much HP, its to much throttle at the wrong time that will get you in trouble. its much easier to prop a motor for a heavy load if its got power to spare. figure your gonna put 4 guys on there hoping for a good 500lb night like we all dream of, add up all the gear, genny, cooler, ect., ect. maybe you think you need a fan next year? all of a sudden you simple boat turned into a 2500lb tank that you fill with another 1500 dang near every trip. I say a minimum 115, go 150 if you can afford it, and no matter what make sure its a 4stroke.

Go 150hp can't go wrong. I have a 150 merc on my 1870 weldbilt and never run much over half throttle and cruise about 45 mph and it is plenty at night for me. My buddy has a Yam 150 on his weldbilt 1860 and it runs awesome. We both had 2 extra transom braces added when building the hulls. Always go as big as you can afford. Best to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

I've had a 115, 175, and currently have a 200 on my 2070 weldbilt and trust me you can never have to much power. It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Go as big as your wallet will allow!

I have the same boat and was trying to save money when I bought it. I put a 70 Tohatsu on mine. It runs great even with all the weight I have in my boat. Yah when it dies I'll put a bigger one on but I max out at around 29 on GPS.

As big as you can legally go, can never have too much HP! I ran a 200 on my 1870 Legend Craft and used all of it several times!
I don't think I have ever heard anybody say "gee I wish I had gotten the smaller motor"! Just saying!
