I wasnt calling tgg out okie. And I think they just wanted you to see how vague of a answer that was. But atleast you were trying to help.
I understand, and i'm not "calling them out" either. I cant ever hope to know a fraction of what they do about gar or bowfishing in general, but would honestly love to hear their take on it. I still dont think the answer i gave was really that vague, i just listed the only things i have personally experienced with needles. And when it comes to giving advice and "knowledge", sharing personal experiences is the only way to share REAL truths. Claiming things are one way, and one way only, is usually not knowlege.

i did happen to mention a time frame. And it was a HELL of a lot less vague than the crap that preceded my answer. Though i may sound pissed i'm really not, i just want yall to see what i was really saying....... misunderstanding seems to be the only thing everyone here (me included) does really well, haha.

LOL! I just thought that was kinda funny! Now for a real opinion.

Longnose spawn several times a year and are somewhat a mystery. One of the best spawns i have ever seen was Nov 6th and 7th. Probably the absolute best was NEWYEARS DAY! now that said, the spawn here in east tx is typically right now and the footage on STILL ROLLIN and LET EM ROLL was the last week of April and first week of May. The only thing those spawns have in common is quickly rising water after a long period of low water HINT HINT!
We shoot the fall spawn every year and generally are the only guys on the river.

Thanks GarGuys for the info. I had no idea the spawn fluctuated like that!!

My river just jumped up 42ft in 8 days... so I guess that is a rise!! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

I'll be out on it in the morning (falling now) and I'll be looking for some activity. :tu:

Thanks

This got me thinking as well. Ive seen it twice in places i fish but never hot n heavy as ive heard others do.

heres some info i just read thru if it helps.

```Spawning season: In the spring; typically when water temperature is between 17.8 to 21.1°C, 64-70°F. Breeding may occur as late as August, depending on geographic location.
```# Gar spawn in shallow water, May-June.

````The longnose gar spawns in May and June when the water temperature approaches 70 degrees F. Spawning takes place in shallow water of lakes or streams over weed beds or gravel.
Last week of April, or first week of May one year in Missouri, river went out of its banks when I was doing a study on a floodplain of the Missouri River. Our fyke nets filled UP with gar. Seems like most of them had one big female and about 30 males. But I can't recall seeing any eggs on the nets, which makes me wonder, as I think about it.
