Last time the site got hacked i had to make a new username and mud fixed it for me. All was good now i cant log in under my user name as k-dog anymore its only letting me use the k-dogg can someone fix this????? Not sure mud is still around.
Who runs the show around here now??????

Okay, so they've answered with an open ticket and supposedly I'll get an email when they answer. I'll share that answer but ain't holding out big hopes. I know they have to protect their admins from having their forums jacked.

Logged me out last week, and couldn't sign in with my password so used the forgotten password link. Every time I used it when I touched anything on the screen it would bring up bring up a pop-up that I couldn't leave, had to restart my phone, after trying it a few times said I had to wait 15 mins. After a half hour I tried again and the forgotten password link worked. The management on this forum is an f..... joke. Why the f do I need a 10 character password including upper, lower case, numbers plus change it every so many days. It's a f..... bowfishing forum, if some one wants to hack into my screen name to steal my post count so be it. It's easier to sign into my online banking account

Believe when they did that update it said every 90 days it needs to be changed or something like that. I don't get it, it's a f.... Internet fishing forum not some financial, bank, credit card, personal information website.
I'm of the opinion that this site and others require this to protect themselves. When a forum is hacked it causes all sort of problems for them and you. I don't like to have to do this crap either but the jist of it is that it's required to fend off the a--holes that want to screw things up so they can have their jollies and feel good about themselves. It's not just this forum either. The holders have another forum that I frequent and they required it there also.
On another note, one way to get around it is to start your own forum. You don't have to use facebook or twitter or any of that crap. You get yourself a domain name and go through all the things that are required to start a website. These people that own these sites are in it for the advertising monies and you're a side note. I haven't figured out what the moderators get for investing their time.

The easiest password I found to use is your user name start with Capital letter, then symbol like (/,-,@) then use your zip code, address or phone # something real familiar to you..... Only way I can keep passwords straight

One problem with not having an administrator is that the forum won't get regular security updates which close the openings that hackers have found to attack other forums. Also, the hosting and domain name must be paid for which will mean the forum owner must allow his credit card to continue to be charged each time they are due. Hopefully, if that owner comes to a point that he no longer wishes to pay for those he'll allow a group of you to assume the domain and have the files to repopulate your own vbulletin forum. It all hinges on the forum owner communicating with those that would operate it if given the opportunity.

Magnolia outdoors or anyone else if your interested in possibly being an admin/mod pm me, I will get up with Mud or Mike and see if we can do this to keep it going, I've been busy but thinking gonna get up with Mud and see if can at least walk me thru checking in new members if get him on phone and do it on tablet at same time, I hate to see this site die but also understand all the time everyone before has spent on here keeping it running and going....

I don't mind helping out. I've operated a forum before so I am somewhat familiar with the hosting, directing the domain, file content, etc. but it's probably best that a couple of long time members take on the admin role. I was working with SMF but I've piddled with some of the other forum software. It's probably all somewhat similar.

Oh, Vertical Scope owns this. They won't give it up. There's probably ads visible to non members. That's how they make their money. They use old admins or moderators for free when they can but somebody in that organization has the keys to this dude!
Well my problem is i was first k-dog with my email then when things took a crap i made a new account with k-dogg still same email address now when i go to forgot password to reset it tells me there is someone with that email and wont let me change from k-dogg back to k-dog
So what's the incentive to be a moderator then? Don't take me wrong, I'm just curious as to why someone would do it then. Sounds like a pain to me.

Why do people volunteer with Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity or the Church ????? As a moderater it's mainly to keep eye on site and be able to correct/delete posts or deal obnoxious members being an azz..... Was approached because been long time member and on here all time anyway, Really isn't a big deal, it's just like being a referee sometimes but never really had to break bad but one time with HawgNSons recently, mainly closing threads, deleting double posts or accidently closing payphones thread( sorry about that ) but really not much involved with being a mod
