Have 12 27 watt led and I am running 10 gauge wire from switches, short runs to lights. There will be three switches for three different on off one for front to and one for each side of 5. That should be alright but where I am worried about is running 20 feet tops from the back batteries to the switches in the front, should I go 10 gauge wire there or will I have to go with 8 gauge wire. The LEDs are from customfitz by the way. They are great looking lights, will let you know what they are like on when I get them hooked up. Thanks for any info.

yes, you might want to use #8 for the run to the batteries, if the one wire is to feed all three switches. I fuse there at 20 amps and after each switch at 7.5a.

So I should put 4 fuses in the system. Measured the run and it will be about 12 feet from batteries to switches. Thanks again.

I would, that way the wire, switches and lights all have overcurrent protection sized properly.

i would like to know how long you are getting from the 24v. and how you like them.

Will have to let you know how they are after I get them running, have yet to get them all on at once. Had one hooked up and it was really bright, can't wait for 12 of them on.

I know less about wiring than most anyone here BUT I'm sure I read somewhere that the 27 watt lights are 12 volt only.

Did not know that for sure, sent chad at custom fitz a message and was waiting on a reply. Don't know much if they say 12 volt then does that mean only, or are guys running 24 volts to them. That was another one of my questions. So if I have to run to separate batteries then could I get away with 10 gauge wire, 6 lights on each battery?

the 27 watt lights that customfitz sells can be run 12v or 24v, doesn't matter.

Got the message from chad and he says the 27 watt led can run 9v-30v. So the 24 volt is fine.

I would think you would only need 12 ga wire as it's rated for 25A and you're only pulling 12.5A.

i run a 80lb troller along with 12-27watt leds on the same two 31series batts and get 5-6 hours run time. i rarely run the troller above 25-50% though.

This also depends on how long you're running the wire.
