okay ya'll, made good progress tonight, finally. got the jet ski hull completely cut down the rest of the way and ready to recess. then, because i safely cut the hole in the boat smaller than what it needed to be, had to trim alot of the transom hole. also notched existing ribs that the jet ski hull was gonna sit on top of to match the angle of the jet ski hull. very time consuming, but everything went smooth. the hull fits in the hole pefectly with very minimal space to have to eventually seal. i will not be able to work on it again until this weekend. plan to bolt the jet ski hull to the bottom of the boat, lag the pump housing into the transom and seal completely on saturday and sunday. will update when i get this completed. here are pics from tonight:

also, the fiberglass top and sides of the pump housing that are sticking out past the transom will be trimmed off before attaching. my sawsall batteries were all dead at that point and the world series was starting. lol

OK, I have been following this since you started. Now that there is a hole in the bottom of the boat and fitment taking place, I am really interested in seeing how it all fits up. Keep up the good work cause god knows I don't have the balls to cut a hole in my boat even though it isn't worth a lot...

lmao! like i said, cutting the hole was by far the toughest part..... i dont know quite yet at this point whether it was balls or just plain stupidity. but, i'll soon find out. lmao!.... glad you're following. thanks for the support.

What exactly are you gonna use to seal all this up? Just curious
the original plan was to fiberglass it all in. however, because i was able to recess the jet ski hull as tight as i was, i'm not (at this point) sure if that is gonna be necessary. there really is not gonna be any gap bigger than an 1/8" to seal, fortunately. so as of now, i am planning on going with 3m's marine adhesive and laying down a rubber / gasket material around the hole in the boat before i suck everything tight with bolts.

3m and rubber?

mike i gotta say i had a boat with bellows which are rubber and every couple of years i had to replace them. my question is, if you put rubber in the gaps and adhesive over it will it hold up as well or as long as fiberglass would??? just throwing it out there.

dont know for sure, just worried about "flex" with the torque of the engine on the aluminum with fiberglass. dunno, but i'll figure it out. i've gotten it to this point.

Not sure if this is the right term for it, but is the center "rib", running down the center of the hull, gonna creat an air space between it and the pump causing cavitation?
No I'm hoping not. Would have had I not used so much of the actual jet ski hull. But because I did, it will offer about 20 or so inches of perfectly smooth surface for the water to pass over before it is sucked into the intake.
