got the top half of the jet ski chopped off tonight.... what a project. next step, disconnect the jet drive shaft and pull the engine from the mounts so we can start measuring and cutting both the bottom of the jet ski hull and the transom and hull of the boat. here are some pics from tonight.

Sweet!! I almost bought one for my pontoon and just attached the jet ski to it between the toons in the rear i thought then I could have just unhooked it and went on a scouting ride real quick then hook back to it ha ha I never did it but it was a thought ha ha sold the toon. Well good luck with yours I am sure it will be awesome for sure!!

worked on project a little more tonight. not too much progress. got everything disconnected from the pump housing that needs to be. also, pulled gas tank and oil reservoir. also, i placed an order for my first "materials expense". bought an oil pump block kit. was only $15 plus $5 shipping. this will be used to take the place of the oil pump when we pull it. decided against the oil injection system that it had. gonna go with premix. just dont want to have to rely on the oil injectors. one of those bad boys fouls up, and the engine is in trouble. so at this point, depending on what time i get home from work tomorrow and the weather, all i have to do is pull the engine from the mounts.... shouldn't take too long at all. after that, start measuring and cutting both jet ski hull and boat..... once i hit that boat with the saw, i would say that is when i am completely committed. lol. will keep ya'll posted!

THE ENGINE IS OUT!!!... finally! turned out to be a bigger pain in the butt than i expected. evidently, engine cannot be pulled up and away from the shaft on a polaris like we had hoped. had to pull the jet and the shaft from the rear end of the unit first, then lift engine out. was hoping we could do it without touching that stuff. oh well, will make the jet ski hull easier to work with. gonna try to at least get the jet ski hull measured and cut tomorrow night and possibly start on the boat hull. i think we are past the most difficult part. oil pump block kit should arrive tomorrow or friday. will put that on right away. here are some pics from tonight.

jet ski hull cut and bench seat removed from boat tonight. more progress! tomorrow, plan to remove both side seat / flotation boxes from rear end of boat and possibly cut hole in hull and transom of boat to recess the bottom of the jet ski hull.

Just curious how much does that engine weigh?
It actually doesn't weigh near as much as we thought it would. We were guessing it would be about half of the weight of the entire jet ski which was 650lbs. However, Jon lifted it up out of the jet ski by himself. I picked it up and it felt like it weighed about the same or a little less than what my Yamaha did and that was 118lbs. Put the pods on cuz we expected it to be heavier, but the gas tank is 17gal, which will weigh about 130lbs when full, so that plus the engine should be pretty close to the total weight we were expecting to put in the back of the boat when I put the pods on. The pods will offer about 200lbs of flotation so the boat shouldn't sit any different in the water than what it did with the outboard.

looks good. is the jet pump nozzle going to clear the pods? kinda looks like from the pics that the pods may limit your turning radius. just curious.
Gonna shove it back far enough that it shouldn't be a problem. Trying to get intake as close to the transom as possible in case we have to reach over the back of the boat to remove weeds.
